Episode 3: "1964" (Thurs. Aug.21.2014)

It wasn't the first time Mr. Lamberton had to pin a kill on somebody. It happened back in 1964 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Adam was a teacher down south in a newly integrated schoolhouse and five of his black students were being killed off when one of his students' a young black kid named Isaac asked, "Mister. Who do you think has been killing my friends? I am scared to walk home by myself. I don't want to be next." Isaac started to cry and then all of the students started to cry because they did not want him or the remaining two black children to die either." All Adam could do at that moment was to calm the children down.

It was the final bell and all the students were getting onto their buses and parents' vehicles. Except for Isaac who was walking alone when he was stopped by Adam, "Where are your folks Isaac?"

"Mama and Papa work late on Friday. Mama gets home at Midnight and Papa comes home at 3AM."

"How about this Isaac? If you give me your hand I will take you home in my car and stay until your parents get home. Will that be alright with you and your parents?"

"You'll have to call them when we get to my house," Isaac said as he hopped into Adam's pickup truck. It was thirty minutes from the school to Isaac's place, "Mr. Lamberton you have to park in the back of the house. Papa don't like it when people take his space."

"Okay," Adam said as he drove his car to the other side of the small simple house just big enough for a three person household. Eight hours had passed and Adam was putting Isaac into his bed when he heard a noise coming from outside the window. He hopped in the bed hiding under the covers and waited for whoever it was to come in. Listening to heavy feet creep toward the bed he popped up, grabbed the intruder by the throat and was surprised at who he saw, another vampire by the name of Samuel Ayers, "I knew there was a vampire in town but I didn't expect it to be you. Why would you do this? You know Master Addam's rule:'NEVER KILL CHILDREN!'"

"I was following orders," laughed Samuel.

"Whose orders?" Adam asked as he squeezed Samuel's neck tighter.

"Mayor Van Hausen. He wasn't very happy about the new laws so when he saw me eating a rat and saw me for what I was he blackmailed me. I had to do what he said. I never mastered the power of hypnosis like you and Master. And besides I was hungry for blood and I didn't care whose it was," replied Samuel laughing in a demonic manner.

Adam broke off the leg of Isaac's wooden chair and pierced it into Samuel's heart, "You will pay for what you did." As Adam dropped Samuel's body out the window the mother had walked into Isaac's room, "Hello. Oh what happened to the chair?" Adam took the bloody steak out of Samuel's body and covering his mouth said, "I killed a raccoon. I'll repay you for the damages. You do not want to see the poor thing," Adam said as he put the steak back into Samuel's heart, "It's a big old bloody mess. Tell Isaac that I went home and that I will see him tomorrow. I'll just go out the window, my pickup is in the back anyway. Have a nice night ma'am." Grabbing Samuel's body he put him in the back of his pickup truck and drove away.

Adam was looking into Samuel's mind when he found out where Mayor Van Hausen lived and worked. Waiting for the assistant to leave, he got out of the car with Samuel's body in tow and when Van Hausen turned around he saw Adam drop Samuel's body to the ground and he reached for the phone but he was too slow.

"Tisk.  Tisk.  Tisk. Now that isn't very nice is it?"

"Are you what Samuel is?"

"Yes and I'm worse because I'm a teacher at the schoolhouse and you had him kill my precious students. Naughty Mayor. Are you so intolerant that you had to get a vampire to kill young innocent children? They did nothing to you, all they were was a different color other than your own and for that you kill them? It's time for you to die!" Adam picked up the silver mail opener that was on Van Hausen's desk and stabbed him in the stomach with it. Just as the blood was dripping down to the floor Adam viciously sank his teeth into the Mayor's neck, draining him until all that was left was the blood on his shirt. Dragging Samuel over to Van Hausen's body and putting Samuel's hand on the weapon, Adam knelt over Samuel's body and said, "Master will shun you from the family after he finds out about this? Master will understand what I had to do. When the police find your bodies they will automatically think that you killed each other, oh and look over there that is the exact same chair that was in Isaac's room, lucky me."

Adam walked over to the chair and broke it into pieces and put one of the legs in the back of his pants, "Your gonna have to get out of town when the coroner takes the steak out and puts you into the crypt at the morgue but from the looks of the wound I'd say you'd wake up when your buried." Adam closed Samuel's eyes and walked away into the night.

FADE TO BLACK

Back in the present, several days had passed by and the police had put away Bietlemeyer and sent him straight to prison. It was Wednesday morning and Adam was reading J.M. Barrie's 'Peter Pan,' when a there was a knock at the door, it opened and Mr. Levinson walked in and said, "Good morning class. This is Keana Washington."

"Oh My God! That girl is fucking huge," whispered Trix to Charlie.

"Ms. Gamborelli I heard that. That's one demerit and 5 points off your final grade. If it happens one more time you'll be in detention with me and write on the wall one hundred times "I Will Not Tease Other Students.""

"Wow?! I did not know you had that in you," Mr. Levinson said in awe.

"Do you want a demerit for underestimating my teaching capabilities?" Then Mr. Levinson abruptly left the classroom after that remark, "Ms. Gamborelli you owe me 25 cents for the swear jar." Trix got up and paid her debt,  "Now let's see. Take the seat in the back, and if you notice Ms. Washington as you turn to your right you will see my rules and regulations board if you follow those rules you will be just fine."

"Yeah whatever," Keana said as she sat down in her desk and all the students gasped, "What?"

"Ms. Washington are we at your house?"

"No," said Keana in a defensive manner.

"Then don't talk to me like you are. In my class students such as yourself will address me with respect," said Adam in a stern and strict voice.

"Yes. Mr.  Lamberton. I understand."

There were five minutes left in the class when Adam got up to put the homework assignment on the board:

"Read chapter 3-5 of your Peter Pan books and write down all the vocabulary words, define them and use it in a sentence."

All the students began to moan, "Do you want me to make it five chapters?" Then all the kids stopped and as he turned around he laughed, "I didn't think so." As the bell for the next class rang all the student's started to head out the door, except for Charlie who was stopped by Adam as he held onto the little handle of her knapsack, "Wait a minute."

"I'm gonna be late for my next class," whined Charlie.

"Take it easy. I'll write you a note, anyway I want you to show Keana the ropes around her and make her feel welcome."

"Aw! Why do I have to do it?" Charlie asked as she sat down in Adam's chair, "Because you're a nice person," replied Adam as he gently lifted Charlie off his chair and handed her a note for her next teacher.

"Great now everyone is gonna think I'm a friggin' teacher's pet," she looked over to Adam who pointed down to the swear jar, "Oops. Sorry," said Charlie as she reached in to her pocket to take out a quarter but couldn't find one, so she ran out the room and said, "I owe you a quarter." Slamming the door a little too hard a picture frame fell on to the ground.

"Ah! Second time this week," Adam said as he picked up an autographed picture of Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean Luc Picard of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

School was almost over when Charlie walked in to the GIRLS LOCKER-ROOM to pick up her gym bag, when Keanu pushed her against the wall and asked, "Is it true that Mr. Lamberton is your father?"

"Yes. He's one of them," uttered Charlie.

Keana then proceeded to punch her in the eye, really hard, "If he ever embarrasses me like that again, you will get another beating twice as bad as this one. Got me?"

"Uh-huh. Yes. Ow!"

"Cry Baby!" Keana yelled as she left the locker room, passing Trix on the way out. When Trix walked up to Charlie she noticed that she was crying, "What's wrong?" Charlie looked up at Trix and she gasped, "Did Keana do this to you? I'm getting Mr. Lamberton, he's waiting outside for you in the parking lot to take you home. Your Aunt has to stay late."

"No! I don't want you to tell him. Just give me your sunglasses and I'll be fine." Trix walked Charlie over to Adam's car and as we was waiting for her to get in he listened to what Trix was whispering to Charlie, "What are you going to tell him when he sees it?"

"I don't know," replied Charlie. "Okay, lets go home." It was a twenty minute ride from the school to Charlie's house when Adam pulled in to the driveway and said, "Do you have something to say to me? Because you can tell me anything, I promise I won't be mad or over-react." Then that's when he saw it, a little bruise peeking out of the glasses, "Charlie. Take off the glasses."

Charlie's heart began to race and then she ran into the house and locked the door behind her and ran into her bedroom. Adam raced to the front door and yelled softly, "Charlie let me in? I need to talk to you." Charlie opened up her window and yelled, "Go away Adam!"

"Something must be really bothering you if your calling me Adam. Alright I'm calling your Aunt Janice."

"Why too chicken to call DAD!" Charlie yelled as she dropped to the floor and said, " I can't believe I just said that."

"I can't believe she just said that?" Adam said as he was looking up at Charlie's window.

"Who said what?" Asked Janice who was on the line.

"Nothing. Um hey I'm at the house, do I have permission to go in?"

"Yeah, there's a key underneath the 'Welcome Mat'."

"Okay thanks Janice," said Adam as he hung up his phone and ran up the stairs to Charlie's bedroom door but when she didn't open up, he just walked in and took off Charlie's glasses, gasping he turned Charlie's face to the side and said, "Who did this to you? Was it the new girl Keana?"

"Yeah it was and she said that if you embarrassed her in class again, then she would give me a beating twice as bad as this."

"Did she really?" Adam asked as he walked Charlie to the kitchen to get a pack of ice for her left eye, Charlie winced in pain, "I'm sorry. I know it hurts. I will deal with her accordingly tomorrow."

"Do I have to go to school tomorrow?" Charlie asked. Then Adam lifted up the bag of ice to look at the bruise again and touched it, "No. You don't have to go. This needs to heal. The bruise will be down by Monday."

"What if I go back to school on Monday and Keana confronts me again?"

"Just call out my name and I will be right there for you, I know you would like to stand up for yourself but honey she outweighs you by at least 50 pounds. And that girl is as tall as me, you wouldn't stand a chance. Trix might but you certainly will not."

"Dad is coming home soon. What are we gonna tell him?"

"We," asked Adam in shock at the thought of seeing the man who broke his heart again, and he looked over at Charlie who had pouty lip, "Alright. I'm only talking to him because you are still my daughter and I love you. Josh can just rot in hell," Adam said as he was hugging Charlie and then they heard the front door open.

"Hello? Anyone home?"

Adam peered out of the corner of the kitchen to take a look at Josh who still looked as good as the first time they had first met, "Damn. Okay. Here we go."
