Episode 4: "TRIXIE!" (Aug.23.2014)

Adam and Charlie waited in the kitchen for Josh to step in. The footsteps of Josh's black Armani shoes came closer to the kitchen doorway. Adam started to pace back and forth, biting his nails in the process. When the kitchen door opened, Josh dropped his phone at the complete and utter shock of seeing his former lover standing before him.

"ADAM?!"

"Hi...Josh," said Adam as he nervously waved his hand to Josh.

"What are you doing here?"

"Now don't freak out. We got a student today and I scolded her in front of the class and she took it out on Charlie," Adam replied as he stepped to the side to show Josh his daughter, who was still holding the bag of ice on her head.

"Oh My Baby!" Josh screamed as he ran up to Charlie to give her a great big hug. He proceeded to lift the bag off her face, "This is really bad. My God, it's swollen. HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN ADAM!"

"I didn't let anything happen alright. Charlie was getting ready to leave in the locker room when the new girl Keana came at her," Adam said defensively, "Anyway I stayed here to tell you that she doesn't have to come to school tomorrow. The black eye needs to heal, I'll bring her assignments tomorrow, if not me then it'll either be Janice or Trix," Adam went over to Charlie and kissed her on the forehead,"Goodbye sweetie. Keep the ice-pack on for another 10 minutes. Do your homework and get some rest. I'll see you soon. Josh it was a pleasure," Adam was on the way to the front door when Josh asked, "Was it really?"

"No it's not but I'm being civil for Charlie's sake," replied Adam as he put on his prescribed sunglasses and headed out the front door and straight into his black Mercedes Benz.

FADE TO BLACK

It was a Saturday afternoon now and Trix was over at Charlie's house for a sleepover. Josh had to travel on important business to Portland so he wouldn't be back until Monday night, so he left Janice in charge of Charlie, and Adam was at his apartment sleeping in his black oversized coffin which had a removable top.

"I'm so bored," whined Trix, "Let's go the arcade at the mall and troll for boys."

"I can't go out looking like this," exclaimed Charlie who was touching her black eye when she looked through her mirror and saw Trix holding an eye-patch, "What the hell is that?"

"An eye-patch. It was my Uncle Lorenzo's. He got bit by a spider once and he had to cover his eye up with this," she began to put it on Charlie's still swollen eye, "Don't worry I cleaned it."

Charlie lifted her head to face the mirror again, "I look like a shitty pirate hooker."

"But a cute shitty pirate hooker. Hahaha, if we were in Mr. Lamberton's class you would owe him .25 cents for the swear jar," Trix said as she was laughing in enjoyment.

"Why do you still insist on calling him Mr. Lamberton? We are not in school, you can at least call him Adam," Charlie remarked as she was getting up from her dresser chair to go to her closet to get a cute jacket for the mall.

"I know he's your father, your adoptive father at that but it's weird. I have a crush on him. I'd like to think of him as my really hot gay English teacher, not my best friend's father."

"TMI Trixie, TMI! Anyway I am ready. Let's go."

The girls were running down the stairs and toward the front door when Janice stopped them dead in their tracks, "Where are you two going in such a hurry?"

"To the mall. We are gonna hang out at the arcade and may be get some pizza and maybe a few shirts at Hot Topic," Charlie answered as she was anxiously waiting to get out of the house.

"Are you taking the bus?"

"Yes Aunt Janice. Now can we leave, we are gonna miss the bus."

"Alright buy hey hold on. Here's $40 spend it wisely. I'll see you tonight."

Charlie and Trix were finally on the pass and sat all the way in the back. After a while Charlie asked Trix, "So I your Grandma Beth told my dad that your father got out of jail last week?"

"That man is no longer my father. He killed my mother in cold blood. He was a mean and abusive drunk. I will never forgive him for what he did to my family," Trix replied softly so other people will not hear their conversation, "He has been calling me for the past week. Since he got out and I refuse to pick up the phone. That man only got 5 years because he declared that he was 'temporarily insane' at the time that he killed my mother. Damn. I hate him so much."

"I'm sorry i brought it up," said Charlie as she put her arm around her best friend to console her.

FADE TO BLACK

Two hours had passed by and the girls were having fun playing air hockey and Dance Dance Revolution in the arcade. There were two boys from their school that walked over to see the girls. One was a tall kid with brown hair and blue eyes, his name was Jake and the other was slightly shorter with blond hair and blue eyes, and his name was Joey, "Hey Charlie. Hey Trix. What are you girls doing later?"

Giggling and whispering to each other, they finally looked at the boys and Trix replied to them, "We're going to get pizza later. Wanna come?"

"Yea sure. That'll be fun. Well, we are gonna be at SPENCER"S Gifts across the walkway, so get us when you two are ready," Joey said to the girls as he was dragging Jake out of the arcade.

"Bye girls," Jake said waving to Charlie.

"Bye boys," the girls said together.

"OMG. I can't believe the two most popular and hottest boys in our entire Freshman class just asked us out," Charlie exclaimed in delight.

"Yea I know right. Anyway I have to find a bathroom I need to pee. The one in here is out of order, so I'm gonna go to the one by the food court. I'll text you."

Thirty minutes had passed and there was no sign of Trix. Charlie started to get worried and began to text Trix. WHen there was no answer she called her, no answer. Now she got really worried so she started to check around the arcade to see if she was playing another game. Realizing that she was not in the store she headed out of the store and walked across the walkway to find the boys at SPENCER'S Gifts. WHen she spotted them she tapped them on the shoulders', "Hey boys. Have you seen Trix. I can't find her anywhere. Did she come in here at all? I called her like 5 times and she has not picked up her phone at all. It has been almost an hour. I am freaking out."

"Lets not panic. Maybe she met up with some other kids from school but we'll help you look for her anyway. Do you know where she went?"

"She said she had to use the bathroom by the food court since the one in the arcade was out of order."

They all walked up toward the food court. Jake was on one side while Joey was on the other looking for Trix. They could not find her. Knowing the information Charlie headed into the women's bathroom and there was no one in there. She pushed open all of the stall doors, until she found the last stall where her cellphone was which was on top of a small puddle of blood, "TRIXIE!"

FADE TO BLACK

Adam was still sleeping soundly in his coffin when he heard his cellphone buzz, buzz, buzzing. Lifting up the lid of his coffin he answered the phone, "Yes," yawned Adam, "What is it? Charlie is that you? Why are you crying? What's wrong?"

"I can't find Trix. I looked all over the place. I'm at the mall. I'm in the food court with JAke and Joey from school. I need you, please come."

"I'm on my way. I will be there in 10 minutes. Stay exactly where you are." Adam hung up the phone and got ready as fast as he could. Putting on his pants, boots, and black leather jacket he looked for his car keys and ran out to his car in post haste. He pulled up to the Food Court entrance of the mall and ran inside. Once he was in he saw Charlie talking with the police. He ran up to her and hugged her, "It's alright I'm here now. Are you alright?"

"Are you this girl's father?"

"Yes. One of them.  I am also the teacher at their school. Both are in my English class. What happened? "

"We have a reason to believe that Trix's father a Mr. Keith Gamborelli has taken Trix out of the mall. Your daughter said that her friend hadn't been answering her father's phone calls."

"Is anything being done to find her and him?"

"Sir we are working as hard as we can to get more information on this matter. Anyway we are done with your daughter's statement. You can take her home although it looks like she is in shock. So I suggest you take her to the hospital."

"No she's fine. I'll take her home. I live separately from her father. My information is at the school if you need to ask follow up questions," Adam said as he was attempting to move Charlie up from her seat. Charlie was completely motionless so he carried her away like monkey with her arms around his shoulders. Adam set Charlie in his car and buckled her up when he realized her forgot to get a sample of Trix's blood so he could see the events that were played out when he had a moment to himself. Using his vampire speed he went in and out to get her blood, carefully. Back in the car he started the engine and rode off to Charlie's house.

FADE TO BLACK

After putting Charlie into her bed and talking with Janice about the condition of Trix's grandmother, he went outside of the house and waited for the police to be done questioning her about her son's whereabouts. Overhearing the conversation he typed in his cellphone the secret hideaway Keith would go to when he was in trouble or wanted to be alone. He knocked on the door and waited for Mrs. Gamborelli to answer the door. Adam gently put his hands on Mrs. Gamborelli's shoulders and said, "Look in to my eyes. I am going to find your daughter and bring her back home to you. Do I have you consent to go look for your son and go in to your family cabin?"

"Yes."

"When I snap my fingers you will go up to your bed and sleep soundly. All your worries will go away," when he snapped his fingers Mrs. Gamborelli went up stairs to her bedroom and fell asleep.

Adam took out the swab of blood that he took from the crime scene and licked the blood off of the cotton swab. Images began to flow through his mind until the right picture appeared to him. Trix pulled up her pants and fastened her belt buckle when her father stormed in and knocked her out with chloroform which is what had caused the bleeding, it came from her nose. Keith placed her in a giant duffle bag so people could think that he was carrying laundry.

The scene still playing out in Adam's mind he began to follow Keith to his car until the last moment where he pulled up to his family's broken down cabin.

"I got you now asshole. And I know where you are. I'm coming for you," shouted Adam as he pulled of the driveway and on to the open road, towards the woods.

FADE TO BLACK

"Why didn't you just pick up the phone when I called you," Mr. Gamborelli said as he was tying Trix's hands behind her back.

"You killed my mother right in front of me because she didn't have a hot meal for you. You abusive drunken asshole. Go to hell!"

"It was an accident!"

"No it wasn't. You are nothing but an impotent little coward who likes to see people who are lesser then yourself in physical and emotional pain. Let me tell you one more thing. I am not mom, as much as I loved that woman, she was weak, and I, Keith, am not weak!"

Mr. Gamborelli struck her so hard across the face that she fell off of the chair she was sitting on, "Is that the best you could dish out?" She spat out blood that filled up her mouth, "That was nothing! I kickbox every weekend, that was a love tap, hahaha."

Mr. Gamborelli started laying it down thick, he began to punch her in the cut and kick her with his boots and finally after two minutes, he picked up a bat and broker her leg in three places, "That'll teach you to act that way towards me."

"How does it feel to kick a person when they are down, " Trix cried as she was writhing in pain, "Do you feel powerful? Do you feel like a man?" Mr. Gamborelli ripped off a piece of duct tape and forcefully put it over her mouth, "No more talking." Trix moaned for a few seconds and passed out from the shock to her broken leg which was bleeding out, slowly. Them Mr. Gamborelli put her back on the chair she was sitting on.

FADE TO BLACK

Adam pulled up to the cabin but he parked 20 feet away so Mr. Gamborelli wouldn't see his car pull up, or hear it. Stepping out of his car he used his vampire eyes to see if he could look inside the windows of the cabin to see Trix. He couldn't he had to get closer. Stealthily he ran toward the cabin. He walked to a window and wiped off the mud to see inside and he saw Trix but her back was facing the window.

"Hello. My name is Mr. Lamberton. I found Trixie Gamborelli, I am 20 miles out of the Seattle area, in the woods. I believe her to be in serious danger and I am going to sneak in and get her," the 911 had pleaded with him not to go inside the cabin but he hung up the phone and told them to just be on their way.

Adam dropped down to the ground when he saw Mr. Gamborelli walk toward the window where Adam was peering into and he crawled to the other side of the cabin. Getting up and dusting himself off he picked up a rock and threw it at his car so that it can distract Mr. Gamborelli and make him get outside the cabin.

His plan worked. Mr. Gamborelli picked up his shotgun and headed out the door to see where the noise was coming from. Watching him leave, Adam slowly lifted up the window to the room where Trix was being held and crept inside. He tip-toed over to Trix and he saw what Mr. Gamborelli had done to the poor kid, "My Lord. What he do to you?"

He tried to shake her awake but there was no response. He checked for a pulse and there was one, it was fairly faint but nonetheless it was there. Adam untied her hands and took off the gag when he heard manic running coming back to the cabin. It was at that moment when Trix opened up her eyes and said, "Mr. Lamberton is that you?" Adam put his finger on his mouth and whispered,  "Shh!  He's coming back."

Adam picked Trixie up and she screamed. He put his hand over her mouth gently to keep her quiet. Cautiously he laid her down in the corner of the room, and looking into her eyes he hypnotized her and she went back to sleep.

The front door of the cabin was kicked in and there was a buckshot that made a whole through the whole of the back room. Mr. Gamborelli stomped into the room and Adam was perched on the other corner of the room, facing Trix so her father wouldn't hurt her again.

"There you are," shouted Mr. Gamborelli as he knelt in front of his daughter and touched her thigh. Adam jumped off from the ceiling and was standing behind Mr. Gamborelli, "Get your hands off her!"

"Who are you?" Mr. Gamborelli yelled as he pointed the gun to Adam's body, "If you do not tell me who you are I will shoot you and kill you."

"You could try but you would fail miserably," Adam said as he drew his fangs out and his sapphire blue eyes gleaming through the shadiness of the back room.

"Your a monster!"

"Me a monster? I'm not the one who beats up children and women. You are the monster. It's over Mr. Gamborelli, " Adam forcefully took the shotgun out of Mr. Gamborelli's hands, "I can hear the cops coming. They are minutes away from finding this cabin. And don't even bother telling them what I am. They wouldn't believe you anyway. You are a crazed drunk after all. Now move back, I am taking Trix to the hospital."

As Adam went to pick her up, Mr. Gamborelli had remembered what he saw in movies and t.v shows and took out his silver chain that was attached to his wallet, he came up behind Adam and put the chain around Adam's neck, which instantly began burning him. Yanked away from Trix's body Adam began to jerk around his legs. His hands were touching the chain, trying to get it off him but Mr. Gamborelli was still holding on to the chain and choking him, "Let go of me," Adam pleaded as his hands were being burnt along with his neck.

"So it is true? You can hurt vampires with silver. The movies were right. Amazing." The sirens of the police were coming closer to the cabin. With his right hand Mr. Gamborelli slammed it over Adam's mouth and nose. Blocking his breathing passages. Struggling to breath Adam looked over to his left and saw a knife laying down on the floor underneath the chair where Trix was tied on.

As both of his hands were trying to get Mr. Gamborelli to stop suffocating him, he pulled his body toward the knife and with his left hand he jabbed the knife as hard as he could into the man's hip bone. Mr. Gamborelli was screaming in agony, when Adam pulled the man's hands off his mouth and the silver chain that was on his neck. Adam quickly took off the silver chain that was burning him and he kicked it as far away from his body as he possibly could because he had to gather his strength back. He crawled over to Mr. GAmborelli's body and started to slurp the blood where the knife was jabbed in.

Breathing heavily he walked over to Trix and carried her away out the front door of the cabin. He kicked open the door when he saw all the police cars and walked over to the ambulance for the paramedics to take care of her. She was being strapped to the gurney when she opened her eyes and held on to Adam's hand, "Don't leave me."

"I wont." Adam stepped in the back of the ambulance with the two other paramedics, "Why are you checking me out? Focus on helping her." The paramedic noticed that there was bruising on Adam's neck, the man turned around for a second to get a neck brace and when he turned he noticed that the bruises had disappeared, "I told you. I am fine."

Adam looked over at Trix and he was still holding on to her hand. WIth his other he stroke her curly black hair, "Your gonna be fine now. Your gonna get better. I'm glad your Charlie's best friend. You were completely there for her when I went away and I want to thank you for that," Adam said as he gave her a little kiss on her cheek. She blushed, "Why Trixie are you blushing at little old me?" Adam laughed as a single tear fell down from his face. Trixie shook her head yes, "Well that's brave of you to admit, not many girls would."

"We're here." The paramedics jumped out and wheeled Trix straight into the emergency-trauma room, "Your gonna have to wait in the waiting room upstairs in pediatrics. We already called her grandmother."

"Thank you," Adam headed into the elevator to wait in the pediatrics wing when he said to himself, "Let this be the last time someone gets the drop on me."
